We’re launching a very much needed event AS PART OF THE Bristol pride month , where we invite people to listen to and discuss LGBTQ+ related issues in “cross culture communities” within a friendly and safe panel discussion followed by a Q&A.
As part of Interculture’s hugely successful Women Talking Series, we are bringing you Refugee Women Talking, a unique opportunity to hear women from refugee backgrounds tell their stories. There will be the opportunity to ask questions In this interactive panel discussion. Our aims are : to encourage people to ask questions directly to Refugee women and not just talk about them/ make assumptions, create safe spaces to bring people together to break down perceived cultural barriers, to encourage people to find a platform so they can make their voices heard.
This session was part of the Festival of solutions: It's all about the women. We chose hair and skin as our second in the series , because we all have skin and hair and have something to say about it. So we can have an amusing conversation about hair disasters, and sunburn but at the same time we can discuss the deeper isues around lighter skin being seen as more socailly acceptable.
