Ruth Dass
- is Executive Director of InterCulture (UK) Ltd, based at The Calls Leeds, West Yorkshire, UK. Ruth established InterCulture in 2000, a unique agency created to support innovative, enterprising solutions designed to break down cultural barriers in the creative industries.

InterCulture through its unique team of international practitioners, specialists and associates aims to provide expertise give specialist advice and conduct research to deliver unique projects that promote best practice in diversity and social inclusion programmes. Projects designed aim to provide a cutting edge approach to issues of race and diversity. These include a wide range of diverse partnerships and regeneration projects that work across a wide range of sectors to promote international, national and regional networks.

InterCulture is currently programming the Connecting Enterprising Women, International Women's Day conferences for the 1911-2011 centenary that will culminate in a sponsorship dinner on the 6 October 2011 with funds raised for The Haven Leeds. www.connectingenterprisingwomen.org.uk Furthermore, Interculture is developing an innovative programme of events for the bi-centenary of The Middleton Railway Leeds (1812 - 2012).

Ruth began her career as an Archaeologist for the York Archaeological Trust, and became Operational Manager and later Head of Department for the ARC, the first hands on Museum of Archaeology in Europe when it opened in 1990.  Since then national and international collaborations and educational partnerships through the work of InterCulture have been developed and delivered with a range of heritage, museums and archaeology sectors working actively to cross boundaries with diverse sectors.

Ruth has served as a Magistrate for the York Bench, North Yorkshire for 10 years and is currently a Judicial Member for the Employment Tribunals Leeds and a trustee for the Duke of York’s Community Initiative.

Ruth is currently at the School of Performance and Cultural Industries, University of Leeds as an Honorary Research Fellow developing partnership programmes. And in February 2007 was awarded an Unltd Millennium award for her project Connecting Enterprising Women. In 2008 she became a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

Tim Challis - is currently InterCulture Project and Development Manager for the Connecting Enterprising Women programme CEW and Digital Renewal: Recovered Histories an innovative digital heritage and creative writing project based within an international context on migrant communities in Yorkshire. This project is in partnership with the School of Performance and Cultural Industries, University of Leeds.
Tim has worked as a professional communicator and journalist with a number of major organisations, including Sunderland University, the British Safety Council, the local government and health union NALGO (now UNISON) the Centre for Local Economic Strategies in Manchester and the University of Leeds. He has written or edited a number of books (including the BBC's It’s My City directory), and has published articles and features in various newspapers and journals, including the Times Higher Education Supplement.
Between 1997 and 2001 he was the production editor of (and contributor to) the refereed journal ‘Capability’ (Higher Education for Capability/ University of Middlesex), and he has carried out research and evaluation for clients including the Department for Education and Skills, the Department of Health, the NHS/Yorkshire Forward, Leeds City Council’s ICT and Employability Equal project, and Education Leeds’ Aimhigher programme. He has also delivered staff development courses in copywriting for the University of Leeds and the Leeds Metropolitan University, and is a full member of the Writers’ Guild of Great Britain.

   

Karen Adams

Karen Adams -
has worked with InterCulture, on a number of projects, since 2000, including Conferences Vision 2003 and Vision 2006 held at Harewood House, Leeds and research for the Clifford’s Tower website.  Currently she is designing and compiling the Diversity Magazine with regards to Connecting Enterprising Women. She is currently developing and designing new material for the InterCulture website.
Karen is a freelance archaeologist and researcher, having mainly worked in the York and East Riding area for over twenty years.  Her experiences and private research form the basis of her business – PastSearch – offering walking tours around York, illustrated talks (using PowerPoint) and workshops at the venue of your choice.  Her research is also being compiled into a database, and it will be later found on the PastSearch website (currently under construction). 
Areas of expertise include photography, performance, music and singing. (Karen was formerly a member of an amateur theatre group in York)
